Паляниця
Мініскульптурка присвячена паляниці, символу української гостинності і кодовому слову, яке допомагає розпізнавати своїх і чужих.
Це український хліб круглої форми, переважно з пшеничного борошна.
Через фонетичні особливості слово "паляниця" важко вимовляти окупантам. У російській мові звук "Ц" завжди твердий, а літери "И" взагалі немає. Тож українці скористалися цим і чи то жартома, чи всерйоз почали питати підозрілих людей: "Скажи "паляниця"! У росіян виходить вимовити щось подібне до "поляніца".
Пропагандисти російського телебачення пояснювали, що слово "поляніца" перекладається як "клубніка." Тож наш унікальний пароль став ще й мемом, який висміює тупість рашистської пропаганди.
На його основі почали придумувати нові паролі: Укрзалізниця везла паляницю, пасажир верзе нісенітниці, кропивницькі паляниці зі смаком полуниці продаються у крамниці біля Укрзалізниці.
З етнографічної точки зору вибір кодового слова зовсім не випадковий. Окрім того, що паляниця – це символ багатства і добробуту, вона також мала магічне значення. Її випікали з часів, коли наші предки перейшли від полювання і збиральництва до більш складних форм господарювання. І використовували під час жертвоприношень.
Кругла паляниця означала циклічність природи, безсмертя померлих душ і була задіяна в усіх календарно-обрядових святах. Наші предки вірували, що в певні дні межа між світами ставала тоншою і душі померлих приходили в гості. Сприяла цьому паляниця – як ключ. Для них на столах лишали перевернуті ложки і перевернуту паляницю.
Не випадково гостей зустрічали з паляницею на рушнику. Гості теж приходять з іншого місця, ніби з іншого світу. Рушник – дорога і водночас межа, яка розділяє своїх і чужих. Чужий просто так не увійде до хати. А паляниця – своєрідна перепустка.

Palianytsia
The mini-sculpture is dedicated to palianytsia, which is the symbol of Ukrainian hospitality and the code word that helps distinguish friends from foes. Palianytsia is a round Ukrainian bread made primarily of wheat flour.
Due to the phonetic peculiarities, the word "Palianytsia" is hard for the occupiers to pronounce. In the Russian language, the sound "ц" [ts] is always hard and not palatalized, unlike in Ukrainian. Moreover, Russian speakers replace the Ukrainian sound "u" [y] with a soft [i]. Thus, the Ukrainians took advantage of it and either jokingly or seriously began to ask suspicious people, 'Say "palianytsia"!' The Russians are more likely to say something like "polianitsa."
The propagandists of Russian television explained that the word "polianitsa" is translated as "a strawberry." This way, the unique password has become a meme, mocking the stupidity of Russian propaganda.
Based on this, Ukrainians began to coin new passwords, such as: "Ukrzaliznytsia vezla palianytsia" (Ukrainian railways were transporting palianytsia); "pasazhyr verze nisenitnytsi" (a passenger was sprouting nonsense); "kropyvnytski palianytsi zi smakom polunytsi prodaiutsia u kramnytsi bilia Ukrzaliznytsi" (Strawberry palianytsia from the city of Kropyvnytskyi is sold in a shop near Ukrainian railways).
From an ethnographic point of view, the choice of the code word is anything but random. In addition to being a symbol of wealth and well-being, palianytsia had a magical meaning. It has been baked ever since our ancestors moved from hunting and gathering to more sophisticated methods of farming. Additionally, it was also used during sacrifices.
Round palianytsia was used in all calendar and ritual holidays to represent the cycle of nature and the immortality of departed souls. Our ancestors believed that, on certain days, the border between the worlds became thinner and the souls of the dead came to visit. Palianytsia contributed to it; it was like a key. As a result, our forefathers placed palianytsia and spoons on tables facing downward.
It was not by chance that the guests were greeted with palianytsia on a "rushnyk" (a ritual Ukrainian embroidered towel). Guests come from another place, as if from another world. Rushnyk means both the road and the boundary that separates friends from foes. A stranger will not enter the house. Palianytsia is a kind of pass.
Our bronze mini-sculpture is a palianytsia on the rushnyk decorated with the Tree of Life pattern. Such an ornament was characteristic of the Kyiv region.
The legend of the sculpture is: "Touch me and say Palianytsia!"
